Children's Day/Book Day - El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Día)
Children's Day/Book Day, also known as El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Día), is a celebration of children, families, and reading that is held annually on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of advocating literacy for every child regardless of linguistic and cultural background. This year the JKPL will celebrate with a family story time based on the book Dave the Potter by Laban Carrick Hill on Saturday, April 30 at 10:00 am. After the story, kids will be able to make their own pottery with air-dry clay. All ages welcome. Children under the age of 7 require an older teen or adult companion.
Saavy Seniors Avoiding Scams
What you can do to protect yourself from scams is the topic of this special Money Smart Week @ Your Library presentation on Saturday, April 30 at 2:00 pm. Learn about the different types of scams and schemes that are present in today’s society and receive tips to protect your assets from scams. If you are a victim, the program will explain how a scam occurs and how to report them to the officials. Although this program is focused on seniors, all ages are welcome and will benefit from learning more about avoiding scams.
