Used Book Sale
The Friends of the Library used book sale will be held in the basement of the James Kennedy Public Library Thursday, July 21 through Monday, July 25. Bags of books are $2 on the last day of the sale. Hours are: Thursday, July 21: 4:00 pm—8:00 pm; Friday, July 22: 9:00 am—5:00 pm; Saturday, July 23: 9:00 am—3:00 pm; Monday, July 25: 9:00 am—7:00 pm
Visit from the Grout Museum Imaginarium
The Grout Museum will be at the library on Saturday, July 3 at 10:00 am with their Imaginarium for this interactive science program. Learn what makes up makes up healthy foods; help extract DNA from fruit using household materials; and discover the science behind some popular sports and how Newton’s Three Laws of motion make sports work. All ages welcome.
Coloring for Adults
Come relax and relieve stress by coloring on Saturday, July 23 from 1:00-4:00 pm. Coloring for Adults is offered monthly at various times and days. The library provides coloring sheets, colored pencils and light refreshments. No registration needed. Participants are welcome to come and go during the program. This program is open to adults 18 and older.
Making Your Library into a Miniature Golf Course
Teens (grades 6 - 12) are invited to come to the library on Saturday, July 23 from 4:00-6:00 pm to help turn the library into a miniature golf course. Participants may work individually or in teams to create one hole. Challenge your creativity to turn plastic cups, blocks, boxes, books, stuffed animals, and more into obstacles for this fun event. Bring your own supplies or use what the library has available. Participants will design their hole from 4:00 to 5:00 pm and set it up in the library by 6:00 pm, just in time for the miniature golf event. Participants in the miniature golf event will vote for their favorite hole and the winning designer(s) will receive a cash prize of $50.00. Registration is requested but not required. Refreshments provided.
Miniature Golf @ Your Library
Come to the library on Saturday, July 23 from 6:00-9:00 pm and tee off between the stacks and navigate our book obstacles as we turn the library into a mini golf course! Course will be designed by local teens and golfers will vote for their favorite hole. Participants will have their name entered into a drawing for prizes. All ages welcome but those under 6 must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments provided.
Join us Tuesday, July 26 at 10:00 am as we read a few Ninja-themed picture books, make a Ninja headband, and head out into the library for Ninja Hide-and-Seek. The program will conclude with kids making an origami Ninja star and practicing their star throwing skills. Registration limited to 25. Walk-ins welcome if space permits. All ages welcome, but children under the age of six need an adult or mature teen companion.
Chair Yoga with Karen
Yoga is a great way to promote health of the body and the mind as it creates balance in the body through developing both strength and flexibility. Chair yoga involves the use of a chair to provide support so it is a great for seniors, those with limited mobility, or beginners. Join us Thursday, July 28 at 10:00 am as Karen Kramer, a registered yoga instructor, teaches this final class on chair yoga. Everyone is welcome to join this free class. Comfortable clothing suggested. Registration is encouraged but walk-ins welcome if space is available.

Adult Summer Reading Program Continues through August 31
Everyone 18 and older is encouraged to participate in the 2016 Adult Summer Reading Program. Registration begins on June 1 and adults are welcome to join at any time during the summer. The program runs June 1 through August 31 with the theme Exercise your Mind - Read! Join us as we explore ways to keep our minds and bodies healthy through fitness, nutrition, stress relief, and READING! Visit our Summer Reading Program page for more information about all three of our Summer Reading Programs. Submit your book reviews here or pick up paper copies at the library.
Teen Summer Reading Program Continues through July 30
Students who have completed 6th-12th grades are invited to participate in the 2016 Summer Reading Program which runs through July 30. The theme this year is Get In The Game - Read! Participants can register through July 23.
