For this book discussion, participants are reading and discussing six Iowa memoirs in order to come away with a richer appreciation of Iowa's past and a deeper understanding of who we are as Iowans. Sessions are led by scholar Allison McNeese and are at 7:00 pm on alternating Thursdays from March 14- May 23. Join us tonight as we discuss the book “Old Orchard Farm” by Hugh Orchard. Copies of the book are available to check out from the library.
Other books to discuss in this series are A Lucky American Childhood by Paul Engle; A Good Days Work: An Iowa Farm in the Great Depression by Dwight Hoover; The Farm at Holstein Dip: An Iowa Boyhood by Carroll Engelhardt; Out of this World by Mary Swander; and By the Iowa Sea by Joe Blair.
