Things Are Cooking @ Your Library
There is no doubt that winter is here. For many of us, cold weather brings thoughts of warm, comforting food. The thought of a big pot of something on the stove with the smell of it cooking just hanging in the air warms us up from the inside before we’ve even had a chance to eat! Cold days are perfect days to stay at home and bake or try out a new recipe and the library can help you with that!
On Saturday, February 9 the library will be hosting its first Pot Luck Recipe Swap from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. Participants will make a favorite dish, savory or sweet, and bring it to the library along with a copy of the recipe to share. You will be able to sample the other dishes and take home the recipes for the ones you like. This is a great way to share your favorite dish with others and discover some new recipes to inspire you! Drinks, plates, and flatware will be provided by the library. Registration is required.
The library also offers books and magazines that can help inspire you to cook or bake something new. Did you know that the library has a collection of over 500 books that include books on canning, cocktails, as well as a variety of cookbooks? Our cookbook collection has something for everyone including books on soups, slow cooker recipes, quick meals, cooking light, ethnic foods, family favorites, holiday cooking, and baking all kinds of treats. We even have cookbooks by some of the popular Food Network stars such as Alton Brown, Ree Drummond, Nigella Lawson, and Rachael Ray.
In addition, the library carries popular food magazines such as “Food Network Magazine”, “Taste of Home”, “Cooking Light”, and “Diabetic Cooking” to name a few. So whether you want to bake a special treat or cook a meal your family won’t soon forget, the library can help you with that. Stop in and browse the collection or ask a librarian for help. Don’t forget to register for the Pot Luck Recipe Swap and come see what’s cooking at the library!
