The James Kennedy Public Library in Dyersville, Iowa has received a grant award of $1560.00 from Humanities Iowa, a state-based affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, in support of a project called “Memories of Iowa.”  In this six-session book reading and discussion program, participants will discuss six Iowa memoirs and come away with a richer appreciation of Iowa's past and a deeper understanding of who we are as Iowans.  The series will include discussion of Old Orchard Farm by Hugh Orchard, A Lucky American Childhood by Paul Engle, A Good Days Work: An Iowa Farm in the Great Depression by Dwight Hoover, The Farm at Holstein Dip: An Iowa Boyhood by Carroll Engelhardt, Out of this World by Mary Swander, and By the Iowa Sea by Joe Blair. Gatherings will start on March 14 and continue through mid May, with sessions on alternating Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm.
