Zombie Apocalypse: Dyersville
newspaper article for the Dyersville Commercial
As the zombie comes in to attack, you pull the trigger on the gun, only to find out that you used your last bullet a few minutes ago! The zombie draws nearer and you must figure out how to escape with your life. Can you run? Can you hide? Is there anyone around who can help you?
This is the type of excitement one can look forward to on June 22, with the live-action role playing event Zombie Apocalypse: Dyersville sponsored by the James Kennedy Public Library. This event will take place at West Side Park in Dyersville, in the tree area behind Xavier. The program will be from 2:00 – 8:00 pm and games will start every hour. Players are welcome to play as many games as they want. Players will rotate teams each game, taking turns playing as both humans and zombies in a fictional combat setting. Players may bring any type of nerf-esque gun or foam weapons they want to use (all gear must be approved before use).
Everyone 13 and older is invited to play. Parental permission is required for anyone under age 18. Waivers are required for all players. Anyone interested in playing will need to register at the library as we need at least 30 people to run the program. There will be pre-event orientation classes on June 19 at 10:00 am and June 20 at 6:30 pm at the library and June 22 at 1:00 pm at the park to cover the basics of how to play, the rules of the game, safety, and provide a list of items participants need to bring (this list is also available on our website). Please plan on attending one of these meetings!
The library will provide water for the players. The Teen Advisory Council will be selling snacks and drinks at this event as a fundraiser. Spectators are welcome! For more information please call the library at 563-875-8912 or visit the website at www.dyersville.lib.ia.us
So, come and test your ability to survive a zombie attack! Or better yet don’t, because we don’t need to outrun the zombies, we just need to outrun you…..
