Movie award season is in full swing as the countdown to the 84th annual Academy Awards begins.  The award show will air live on TV on February 26.  Since the Academy Awards celebrate what are considered the best of motion pictures each year, the library has also decided to celebrate those movies in our collection that have been honored with either an Academy Award nomination or an award.  These movies have all been pulled off the shelves and placed on the last spin rack that stands next to the movie section.  The movies in our collection, which is by no means a comprehensive collection, span the decades from the 1940s to today and include titles such as The Philadelphia Story, Gigi, The African Queen, Gladiator, The Godfather, and The King’s Speech.   All the Oscar nominated movies in our collection will remain on the spin rack until March.

To celebrate the movies from 2011 that are nominated for an Oscar, the library will showing several of them throughout the month of February.  The movie dates and times are:

Moneyball (rated PG-13):  Sunday, February 5 @ 2pm
