“Kobolds Ate My Baby!” Role Playing Game at James Kennedy Public Library
If you read the title then I am sure you are wondering what is “Kobolds Ate My Baby”. “Kobolds Ate My Baby” is a role playing game, which is a board game where you play from the perspective of your character. Kobolds are short, cute, little doggie-people with a fondness for eating babies and a propensity for causing mischief, failing miserably and dying horribly. In “Kobolds Ate My Baby!” you get the chance to play one of these crazy impulsive creatures! The players are sent out by the king of all Kobolds, King Torg, (All hail King Torg!) to raid the countryside for specific items for his feast. Items hunted for vary by game to game, but one is always a human baby. Failure to bring back the desired objects….well let’s just say a Kobold tastes delicious with a side salad for a party! The person running the game is called the Mayor and it is his or her job is to kill the Kobold players as many times as possible. Don’t worry if they get you, the player just creates a new Kobold and gets right back into the action.
This is a great game for people wanting to try a role playing game for the first time. Unlike other games, which have many rules to learn and keep track of, the rules for this game are quick and easy to learn and play. Plus this game is fun and not to be taken too seriously! This is a great program to bring the whole family to for a family game night! All ages are welcome, however, anyone under the age of ten needs to have an adult companion.
So join us on Friday, December 14 at 5:30pm and try your hand at “Kobolds Ate My Baby!”. This program is scheduled for after normal library hours and the library will not be open during this program. Participants will need to enter the Hoffman Room through the side door near the parking lot to come in and play. The game will last approximately 2.5 – 3.5 hours. Participants can bring dice and miniatures for their use during the game if they like. Otherwise something will be provided for you. Miniatures can be anything around 1 inch tall such as a Lego figure, a Monopoly playing piece or any other small item that can stand in as a playing piece. Registration is requested and refreshments will be provided. All hail King Torg!
