Children’s Programs @ Your Library
“The Night at the Museum” is a popular movie about exhibits at a museum coming to life at night. What if this happened at the library? Just think of all the stuffed animals in the children’s area coming to life and causing trouble! We will get a chance to find out exactly what happens on Friday, December 30th when area children (ages 3 to 8) are invited to drop off a stuffed friend at the library for a sleepover.
Stuffed animals may be brought to the library any time on Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. If they like, children may make a Teddy Bear picture frame craft. To make it an extra special day, the library is offering an optional Teddy Bear Story Time from 4:00-4:30 p.m. for all ages. Mrs. G will revisit her role as Story Time lady and read stories about teddy bears and have lots of fun songs and poems. A special puppet friend may make an appearance, too!
Once the library has closed, all the stuffed animals will be free to roam the library and have fun. The library staff is planning special activities for the sleepover, such as games, movies, popcorn and stories. Staff will take pictures of the mischievous animals as they enjoy a night at the library. Children may pick up their friends on Saturday, December 31st any time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. They will get a picture of their animal’s evening as a souvenir of the event. Note to parents: Please remember that the library will be locked, and any animal left for the overnight will not be accessible until Saturday morning.
January will bring a return of Candy Making @ the Library. On Saturday, January 14 children in grades 2-5 will have the opportunity to make bubble gum, truffles, chocolate suckers and more. The program will begin promptly at 10 a.m. Registration is limited to 20 children and is required. Sign up any time after December 19th.
Just as a reminder: The library will be closed December 24, 25, 26, January 1 and January 2.
