Gaming for all ages.
Join us for this fun and exciting National Gaming Event! We will set up gaming stations throughout the library. There will be a station for the younger ones to play E rated console games in the children’s area and a PS2 station for musical gaming (Guitar Hero, Band Hero) in the Genealogy Room. Paul may even bring in his PS3 for us to play with. Board games can be checked out at the desk and played anywhere and we have free decks of cards to distribute thanks to the Dubuque Greyhound Park and Casino.
Wii gaming will be in the Hoffman Room with an online Wii Super Smash Bros Brawl tournament. Preliminary rounds for the Smash Bros competition will start at noon, with the finals starting at 2:00 pm. This will be something new as participants will be playing with people at libraries all over the country.
We will also be participating in a national Rock Band Contest. Come in anytime during the afternoon to compete. There are no rules about difficulty levels, number of band members, number of bands you can participate in, or how many songs you can play - the contest is to see who can post the highest score overall, as well as on each song. Just come to the library, play, and see how high you can score. You can play any selection at any setting and we submit the score. Winners will be announced on Monday.
We will also be providing snacks and beverages as we know how hungry gaming can make you! Bring Grandma and Grandpa and the kids, your neighbors and friends, and take a new look at what your library has to offer.
