Reading discussion program.

Tuesday, December 7:  An American Experience Book Discussion Series discussion of “Devil in the White City” @ 7:00 pm.   Join us in reading and talking about this book by Erik Larson.  This nonfiction book tells the parallel stories of Daniel Burnham, the main architect of the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and serial killer Henry H. Holmes, discussing the challenges Burnham faced in creating the hugely successful White City, and looking at how Holmes used the opportunities afforded by the fair to lure victims to their deaths.  Scholar Allison McNeese will facilitate the discussion.  Copies of the book are available to check out from the library.   Funded in part by a grant from Humanities Iowa and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
