Discussion of "No True Glory:  A Frontline Account of the Battle for Fallujah" by Bing West.  As painful and controversial as the Vietnam era remains, U.S. military actions in the Persian Gulf region in the past two decades may touch even more uncomfortably on raw nerves since we are still involved in the fighting there.  This book is the work of a journalist, but the author also served in the US Marine Corps in Vietnam and his work has been widely praised.  It is the detailed account of U.S. efforts to take the city of Fallujah over a period of nearly two years.  This series is funded by a grant from Humanities Iowa.
