Tying in with the Summer Reading Program theme of mysteries, the library will show a variety of mystery films on Saturday afternoons through July. This week's mystery movie is "The Name of the Rose". This gothic medieval mystery thriller is set in a 14th century Italian monastery. Franciscan monk William of Baskerville (Sean Connery) and a young novice (Christian Slater) arrive for a conference to find that several monks have been murdered. To solve these crimes, William must use his wit and itelligence to contest Church authority and fight a conspiracy of monastery monks. This film is based on the book by Umberto Eco. It is rated R. Popcorn and beverages are provided by the Friends of the Library.
