Visit with Iowa Author Linda Degree
Join Delhi, Iowa author Linda Degree (Deutmeyer) on Sunday, March 26 at 1:30 pm as she visits the library to talk about her book, Some Sense of It. The book tells the story of Margie, a teacher who is working on teaching the issues of war and peace to the children in her classroom as well as the people in her community. Margie’s story is told through letters from her to her friends and family. Copies of the book will be available to purchase from the author.
Open Mic Night
The James Kennedy Public Library is hosting a NEW monthly open mic night at local restaurant Brew & Brew on Monday, March 27 at 6:00 pm. Performers are encouraged to sign up for ten minute time slots and show off their talents. Poetry, music, readings and comedy are just a few examples! All ages are welcome to come and watch, but performers are limited to age 13 and up unless they have an adult companion. Performers can register in advance at either the Library or Brew & Brew with walk-in performances allowed if there is time. Tables for spectators can be reserved by calling Brew & Brew.
Family Storytime: Jokes & Tricksters!
Join us Saturday, April 1 at 9:30 am for fun stories about jokes and tricks, songs, a simple craft, and a snack will put you in the mood for spring! This family program is appropriate for ages 6 and younger, but everyone is welcome. Children who have not completed kindergarten need an adult companion.
Reaching Out to the Senior Expo
The library will bring a pop-up library to the Senior Expo event at the Total Fitness Rec Center on Friday, April 7 from 9:30am-1:00 pm. Guests will be able to get library cards, check out materials, learn about special programs for seniors, and find out more about what the library has to offer. If you are visiting the Expo be sure to stop by the library table to find out more and enter your name to win door prizes.
Video Game Afternoon
Come to the library on Saturday, April 8 from 1:00-3:00 pm for an afternoon of video games! The library will have its new Wii U gaming system set up in the Hoffman Room along with the Xbox 360 for everyone to come and get their game on! All ages welcome. Refreshments provided.
Bring your Nerf gun and ammo and head to the library for this bi-monthly Nerf War on Saturday, April 8 at 6:00 pm. Participants must be 13 or older and anyone under 18 must have a signed parental waiver. Registration requested as 10 people are required to hold the program and a max of 20 is allowed. Walk-ins welcome, if space allows. Participants must provide their own Nerf guns and ammo but no modifications to darts or guns to increase range or hitting power will be allowed.
